We manufacture hollow concrete blocks in 6-inch and 9-inch widths and deliver them across the Greater Banjul Area. The difference between a block that lasts and one that crumbles is curing time and mix consistency, and we do not sell blocks before they are ready.
How long should concrete blocks cure before use?
Blocks should be kept damp and left to cure for at least seven days before being laid, and they continue gaining strength well beyond that. Blocks sold two or three days after casting have not developed their strength, which is why they chip on handling and crack in the wall. Under-curing is the single most common quality failure in locally produced blocks.

How we do the work
The details below are where quality is actually decided — and where corners are usually cut.
- Mix proportions
- Cement, sand and aggregate are batched to a set proportion. Over-sanding produces a block that looks identical and performs nothing like it.
- Curing period
- Blocks are kept damp for the curing period before dispatch. Blocks that dry out too fast in the harmattan lose strength permanently.
- Dimensional consistency
- Moulds are maintained and checked so block heights and widths stay uniform across batches.
- Handling and stacking
- Blocks are stacked to avoid damage and kept off saturated ground before dispatch.

How many blocks do I need to build a house?
Work it out from wall area rather than floor area: measure the total length of walls, multiply by height, subtract door and window openings, then divide by the wall area a single block covers, and add roughly five per cent for breakages and cuts. Send us your drawings or dimensions and we will do the calculation with you.
What is the difference between 6-inch and 9-inch blocks?
The number is the wall thickness. Nine-inch blocks are used for external and load-bearing walls, where the extra thickness carries load and gives better thermal mass so interiors stay cooler. Six-inch blocks are typically used for internal partitions and non-load-bearing walls, where the saving in material and space is worth having.
Why do some blocks crumble?
Usually because they were sold before they finished curing, or because the mix was over-sanded to stretch the cement. Both produce a block that looks the same as a good one when it leaves the yard. The test worth doing is simple: ask how many days old the blocks are and check whether they were kept damp.
